GUIDE EXPRESS MOVERS&MPS

Before the Moving Day

Preparing  for a move can be a stressful process, but there are several tips and  tricks you can follow to make the day smoother and more efficient before  the movers arrive at your property:

  • Label your boxes each box with its contents and the room it belongs to. This will make  unpacking at your new home much easier (applicable if you’ll be the one  conducting the packing);
  • Pack valuable and important items separately and consider taking them with you in your car (e.g. laptops, phones, jewellery, money);
  • Pack an Essentials Box: Prepare a box with essential items you'll need on moving day and the  first night in your new home. Include items like toiletries, a change of  clothes, important documents, and some basic kitchen utensils.

On the Moving Day

  • Create a Moving Day Checklist: Make a detailed checklist of all the tasks you need to complete on  moving day, from packing last-minute items to confirming logistics with  the moving company.
  • Keep important documents like passports, birth certificates, and financial records in a secure  and easily accessible place during the move. You will need to handle  them yourself (not to be submitted for a packing and moving service).
  • Disconnect and Prepare Appliances: Unplug and prepare appliances for transport. This includes defrosting the fridge and freezer and securing any loose parts.
  • Dismantle Furniture: If necessary, disassemble furniture that can be taken apart. Keep all  screws and bolts in a labelled bag to make reassembly easier. We usually  dismantle as well as  reassemble the items that can’t fit through the  doors as they are. However if you choose to do the  dismantling/reassembling yourself, please ensure this is done before the  moving crew arrives at the property. Items of furniture that are not  dismantled by us, will not be put back together by us.
  • Protect Floors: Lay down protective materials, such as cardboard or drop cloths/dust  sheets, to safeguard your floors and walls from potential damage during  the move. Should you need a quote from us for floor protection, do let  us know and we will provide you.
  • Inventory Your Belongings: Create an inventory list of your belongings and their condition. This  will be helpful for insurance purposes and for keeping track of your  items during the move.
  • Keep Valuables and Essentials Close: Safeguard valuable items, important documents, and irreplaceable  heirlooms by keeping them with you, rather than loading them onto the  moving truck.
  • Pack a Cooler: If your move takes a long time, pack a cooler with drinks and snacks to stay refreshed and energized throughout the day.
  • Arrange for Child and Pet Care: If you have children or pets, arrange for someone to take care of them  on moving day. This will keep them safe and out of the way during the  hectic process.
  • Coordinate with the Movers: Communicate with the moving company to confirm arrival times and any specific requirements or instructions you have.
  • Prepare Cash and Payment: Have cash or be ready to pay the movers before unloading, and make sure you understand the payment terms in advance.
  • Double-Check Everything: Before the movers arrive, double-check that everything is packed and  ready to go. Walk through your home to ensure nothing is left behind  (this is the responsibility of the customer).
  • Stay Organized: Stay organised and keep your moving documents and important contact  numbers within reach. This will help you manage any unforeseen issues  that may arise.

Quotation FAQ’s

How do I secure my booking?

To  proceed with our services, we require a deposit to be paid. This  deposit reserves the date and the team for your service, ensuring a  smooth and timely relocation process.

There are also some items that I didn't  include in the original quote, although we have not decided about that.  Could you tell me how that would affect the price?

Adding  items not included in the original quote may impact the final price of  the service. To proceed with including these items, please provide a  photo for further assessment. Depending on the size, weight, and  quantity of the additional items, the price may be adjusted accordingly.

In some cases, the items are bespoke. Will  someone come around to assess if they can be dismantled, considering our  time concerns?

While  we don't schedule site visits for assessments, we can conduct another  brief video survey to address specific concerns regarding dismantling.  If the items are not permanently attached, such as built-in, glued, or  stapled furniture, we can disassemble and reassemble them similarly to  standard store-bought furniture. This will help us determine the best  approach for handling your bespoke items efficiently while addressing  your time constraints.

My move is subject to completion and I need to vacate the property by a certain time. How does this work?

The  team's arrival time is typically between 8:00-9:00 am. It's important  to note that your move is subject to completion, but leaving by 1:00 pm  shouldn't pose an issue as long as your personal belongings are packed  before the movers arrive. This time frame allows sufficient time for the  moving process while ensuring you meet your departure deadline.

Will your team reassemble any dismantled items?

Absolutely.  All items taken apart by our team will be reassembled at the  destination address. We ensure that none of the items are glued or  stapled during disassembly, making reassembly straightforward if  necessary. Your belongings will be returned to their original state upon  arrival at the destination.

Do you offer furniture dismantling and reassembly services?

We  provide furniture dismantling and reassembly services as needed. Our  team will assess each item on the day of the move to determine if  dismantling is required. For items that can't fit through doors in their  current state, we'll dismantle and reassemble them at the destination  address. Additionally, reassembling flat pack furniture (from new), such  as IKEA furniture, is available by prior agreement, at an hourly rate  charge.

Do you disconnect white goods such as washing machines and dishwashers, and is there an additional charge?

We  offer assistance with disconnecting washing machines and dishwashers,  provided it's a straightforward disconnection/reconnection. However,  please note that we are not plumbers, and we cannot take responsibility  for any leaks that may occur during this process. This is conducted  under the customer’s responsibility.

Can you reconnect appliances like the washing machine at the destination address, and is there an additional charge?

Our  team can assist with reconnecting the washing machine at the  destination address if it's a straightforward task. There is no extra  charge for this service. However, please note that we are not plumbers,  and we cannot take responsibility for any leaks that may occur during  this process. This is conducted under the customer’s responsibility.

Do you agree to transport some plants in tubs?

If it was agreed with us in advance, yes, we can transport plants.

How many parking bays should be secured for each moving truck, and where should they be located?

It's  essential to secure two parking bays for each moving truck within 20  metres of the front door, preferably on the same side of the road for  both the current and new addresses. It's important to consider the total  number of trucks needed for your service when arranging parking.

How can parking for the removal vans be secured for packing and moving day?

- suspend parking with the council (preferred if possible);
- provide parking permits and have the bays reserved for when the trucks arrive;
-  let your neighbours know that you are moving and require their help.  Ask them to free some parking spaces for you. We are positive they won’t  say no.

Who is responsible for parking charges or fines incurred during the packing/removal service?

Parking  charges or fines incurred during the packing/removal service are the  client's responsibility, and they will be added to the final bill unless  previously agreed with us to handle them.

How do we notify you of any damage to the goods, and is there a specific timeframe for notification?

For  goods that we deliver, you must inform us in writing of any visible  loss or damage at the time of delivery. Additionally, regardless of the  circumstances, notification must be provided within seven (7) days of  our delivery of the goods. Kindly check our T&C’s.

What packing services implies?

We  will carefully pack all your belongings and we will bring all the  necessary packing materials for the selected service to ensure your  items are well-protected during the move.
For moves within 25 miles  radius we use professional plastic removal crates which need to be  collected 1 week after the move, unless otherwise agreed.

Can I accompany the driver in the van during transportation?

Unfortunately,  we are unable to accommodate passengers in our vehicles for safety and  liability reasons. Our policy prohibits any unauthorised individuals  from travelling in the van with our drivers. However, rest assured that  our trained professionals will handle the transportation of your  belongings safely and efficiently without the need for additional  passengers.
